Microblogging platform Twitter has launched Twitter Blue for Android users for $11 per month. The release arrives a month after it was relaunched for iOS users.

Quick Facts
- Twitter’s updated help page for Twitter Blue now mentions its availability on Android for the same price as iOS users
- The paid subscription service is currently available to users within the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.
- A Twitter Blue subscription grants blue “verified” checkmarks to users purchasing it
Subscribers of Twitter Blue can customize tweets, post longer videos in HD, and use the platform in reader mode. Among new features soon to be launched for Twitter Blue subscribers, fewer ads than normal users and prioritization of tweets posted by verified users have been confirmed.
Both Android and iOS users have to pay more for a Twitter Blue subscription as compared to web users regardless of which of the currently supported countries you’re from.
Web users can access the service for $8 per month or buy an annual subscription package for $84. The platform is charging a $3 premium for Android signups to cover commission charges for Google.
iOS Users pay the same premium charge to offset Apple’s share. Unlike web subscriptions, users cannot purchase annual packages for iOS and Android yet.
Twitter Blue for Android
Previously, the blue check mark was free of cost for verified accounts of well-known personalities including politicians, journalists, celebrities, and other public figures. Once Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion, he redesigned the platform into what is now being termed “Twitter 2.0.”
A mark of significance that was once reserved for only high-profile Twitter users is now available to anyone who can pay for it. It was launched in 2022 to help the company generate new revenue after advertisers withdrew from the site.
The upside of having Twitter Blue is the excitement of using new features that are still inaccessible to general users of the app. These controls allow a user to personalize Twitter and gain early access to new updates within the app.
